Blog Expectations

Exciting, the first blog post. With the start of a new endeavor, I believe it is always important to set the expectations so that everybody is on the same page. The purpose of this blog is to share ideas on faith and life through a Catholic lens. I’m not perfect nor claim to be, but I strive to continue to grow personally, spiritually, emotionally, and physically with the help of my family, community, and others I encounter in life.

This will be a welcoming place for anyone to join. No matter how big or small this community becomes, it will be my responsibility to ensure that no acts of violence or hate are tolerated. We can disagree, but it should be done in a cordial and charitable manner. Whenever we see something we disagree with, seek first to understand and listen intently, reflect on what was said, control any initial emotions, form your own opinion, then share a gracious response if you are called to. Effective communication comes from how well we listen, not how loud we speak.

Blog posts on this page will be infrequent and that is on purpose for a few reasons. The first being, I do not want this place to be something we feel tethered to, but rather treat it like a friend you haven’t seen in a while. You may not see them all the time, but when you do, it’s as though you never skipped a beat. Additionally, we are all called to focus on our relationship with God through the reading of Sacred Scripture, Sacraments, prayer, fasting, almsgiving, and participating in mass, all things we will have trouble doing if we are tethered to worldly things, this blog included. This is why the theme of the website is, “Go and Encounter God.” Hopefully this will be a good place to talk about God, but never prioritize this over prayer and building your own relationship with God.

The second reason, is because of my current state of life. I am a husband and father. Fulfilling that vocation is my priority. With balancing faith, family life, social connections, work, and personal growth, it is not realistic to prioritize blogging over the gifts that God has entrusted to me.

The final reason coincides with the title of this blog “Everyday Catholic Man”. I’m truly a regular guy going through this life. I’m not a professional writer and am not seeking any acknowledgment, therefore, posting here for me is meant to be a fun hobby. If I do get to impact someone in a positive way, that is a blessing from God.

All in all, though this may sound like a casual blog, I do have every intention of writing meaningful and thoughtful posts. I hope to share insights and learn from others in the process. I pray for the Holy Spirit’s guidance, prudence, and temperance throughout this endeavor.

Looking forward to connecting with you.

Go and Encounter God

Blessings,

Vincent
